Missions :Myomedusa: How Did Muscles Evolve?
As part of this project, we aim to trace the evolutionary history of our striated muscle. To answer this question, we will analyze genomic data, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data, and structural data from cnidarians, and we will develop new algorithms to analyze the evolutionary history of muscle components. You will study the evolution of muscle components during development by comparing different species. You will use single-cell sequencing, protein sequences, and structural data to elucidate how striated muscle has evolved from simple species, such as cnidarians, to complex species, such as Drosophila melanogaster or humans. as part of the scientific projects of the “Computational Biology” team leaded by Bianca (IBDM, Marseille).
