The IBDM is proud to announce that Marc-Éric Perrin, an engineer and applied mathematician specializing in biology, has been awarded the 2025 Hugot Foundation Prize by the Collège de France, an annual award recognizing young researchers for the excellence and originality of their work. This nomination was put forward by Professor Thomas Lecuit, holder of the Chair of Dynamics of Living Systems at the Collège de France.
After studying applied mathematics, Marc-Éric Perrin joined the Turing Center and then the IBDM to conduct a thesis on modeling the growth of sensory neurons in Drosophila. His work combines image analysis, algorithms, biophysics, and developmental biology to understand how neurons acquire their complex tree-like shapes.
This award fully recognizes Marc-Éric Perrin’s interdisciplinary approach, at the interface between mathematics and biology, and reflects the dynamism of the research conducted at the IBDM. It is a great recognition for a young scientist whose work contributes to deciphering the fundamental mechanisms of life.
