Le g\u00e8ne\u00a0<i>yellow<\/i>, situ\u00e9 sur le chromosome X, est impliqu\u00e9 dans la formation d&#8217;un motif de pigmentation alaire sp\u00e9cifique aux m\u00e2les chez plusieurs esp\u00e8ces de drosophiles. Le profil d&#8217;expression m\u00e2le-sp\u00e9cifique du g\u00e8ne\u00a0<i>yellow<\/i>\u00a0dans l&#8217;aile est contr\u00f4l\u00e9 par une r\u00e9gion cis-r\u00e9gulatrice qui est active lorsque le g\u00e8ne est pr\u00e9sent en une seule copie, comme chez le m\u00e2le (XY), mais r\u00e9duit au silence lorsque le g\u00e8ne est pr\u00e9sent en deux copies, comme chez les femelles (XX). Cet interrupteur g\u00e9n\u00e9tique est donc actif lorsqu&#8217;il est h\u00e9rit\u00e9 d&#8217;un seul parent, mais inactif lorsqu&#8217;il est h\u00e9rit\u00e9 des deux parents.
