La polarit\u00e9 cellulaire planaire (PCP) est un processus de d\u00e9veloppement essentiel pour l\u2019embryogen\u00e8se et le d\u00e9veloppement de structures polaris\u00e9es chez les m\u00e9tazoaires. Cette voie de signalisation implique un ensemble de g\u00e8nes conserv\u00e9s au cours de l\u2019\u00e9volution codant pour des mol\u00e9cules transmembranaires (Vangl, Frizzled, Celsr) et cytoplasmiques (Prickle, Dishevelled). Vangl2 est d\u2019une importance majeure dans le d\u00e9veloppement des vert\u00e9br\u00e9s, comme l\u2019illustre son r\u00f4le pendant la fermeture du tube neural dans les embryons humains, de souris, de x\u00e9nope et de poisson-z\u00e8bre. <\/p>\n

Dans cette \u00e9tude collaborative entre les groupes Borg (CRCM) et Kodjabachian (IBDM), les chercheurs ont caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 un variant traductionnel conserv\u00e9 de Vangl2, dont la traduction est initi\u00e9 \u00e0 un codon Isoleucine, quelque 50 acides amin\u00e9s en amont de la M\u00e9thionine canonique. Ici, l\u2019inhibition par injection d\u2019antisens morpholino chez le x\u00e9nope a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 toute sa puissance, puisque la traduction de Vangl2-Long a pu \u00eatre inhib\u00e9e sp\u00e9cifiquement, sans alt\u00e9rer l\u2019expression de Vangl2 canonique. Des analyses dans des tissus polaris\u00e9s ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 l\u2019importance du variant long, indiquant que Vangl2 et Vangl2-Long doivent collaborer pour assurer le d\u00e9ploiement correct de la voie PCP. <\/p>\n
