En r\u00e9\u00e9valuant cette structure par microscopie \u00e0 super-r\u00e9solution sur des \u00e9chantillons intestinaux, Pierre Mangeol et l&#8217;\u00e9quipe Lenne et Le Bivic montrent que la ZA est constitu\u00e9e de deux ceintures distinctes de complexes adh\u00e9sifs, l&#8217;une basale avec l&#8217;E-cadh\u00e9rine et l&#8217;autre apicale avec la nectine-afadine. Contrairement \u00e0 la vision des livres classiques de biologie, la ceinture d&#8217;actine principale s&#8217;aligne sur la nectine et l&#8217;afadine, et non sur l&#8217;E-cad-cat\u00e9nine. Les auteurs montrent en outre que cette organisation d\u00e9pend de l&#8217;\u00e9tat de maturation des cellules et que la ZA des manuels de biologie correspond \u00e0 un \u00e9tat moins mature de la jonction intestinale et ils ont ainsi d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d&#8217;appeler la jonction trouv\u00e9e dans les cellules matures la zonula adherens matura. Des perturbations g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques et physiques montrent que l&#8217;afadine est essentielle pour la transmission de la force \u00e0 travers les jonctions cellulaires.
